SKELETON UNEARTHED
PROBABLY MAORI REMAINS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 27. A complete human skeleton was unearthed near Gore Bay to-day by workmen engaged in widening a road. No clothing or other articles were found with the skeleton, which has been presumed, although so far without the corroboration of expert opinion, to be that of a Maori. The skeleton was found three feet below the surface and 30 feet above sea level in the sandhills. The knees were drawn closely up to the body under the chin. The head is described as square-jawed and lowbrowed. The teeth were in perfect condition. The police have been notified and will investigate.
