Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Galway concluded their visit to Dunedin yesterday. They visited Otago University, where Professor A. G. Strong was invested with the Order of the British Empire. Mr W. A. Bond, head teacher of the Mangatainoka School, has received notice of his transfer to the Tokomaru School, to take effect after the Christmas vacation.

Among the judges at the Stratford Show, this week, were Mr J. Kyle, of Palmerston North, who judged the Ayrshire cattle, and Mr W. S. Fell, of Longburn, who judged the Friesians. Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education and Health, who is to declare open the new administration block at the Palmerston North Hospital, next Wednesday, will attend the Central School gala on the same day and officiate there also. The Minister will discuss secondary education matters in Levin in the morning. The committees of the Otaki and Shannon schools have been invited to attend the conference. Mr Maxwell Dumbleton, a son of Mrs and the late Mr S. A. Dumbleton, of Tapanui, and a brother of Mrs 11. Johnston, of Woodville, who was formerly known in dairying circles in the Manawatu district and was for some time manager of the casein factory at Kairanga before leaving New Zealand in 1929 to go to South Australia, has accepted a responsible position on the British Milk Marketing Board, and has been on a business trip to Denmark, Holland and Germany. For some time while in England Mr Dumbleton was connected with a large dairy company in Cornwall.
