LABOUR CAMP

SCHEME FOR WAIKATO. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. Within a week or so the Government will establish a harvesting labour camp in the Waikato. It will be situated at Morrinsville as the central point from which the State will supply transport for the men to and from farms requiring labour. Camp accommodation will be provided for 50 or 60 men to begin with. In establishing the camp the Government has the dual purpose, first, to supply labour for farmers during the hay-making season and, secondly ; to give the unemployed on demoralising sustenance an opportunity to become rehabilitated into industry. If it proves a success, the scheme will be extended to other districts where the harvest time is later.
