FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. At the usual fortnightly meeting of Loyal iManawatu Lodge, ALU.1.0.0.F., Bro. A. D. Dawick, R.G., presided over a very large attendance. An invitation from Doyal Marton -Lodge to attend its installation ot officers was accepted and a large number of members stated their intention of attending. An invitation was received from Loyal Wanganui Lodge to attend a social evening and to meet the Grand Lodge officers. Three new members were initiated in the order. The following officers were elected for next term: N.G., Sis. Drury; V.G., Bro. Finlmson; E.S., Bro. Kees; L.M., Bro. Mullaney; Hospital Association, Bro. Sharman; Friendly Societies’ Council, Bros. Christiansen and Bradley; Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Board, Bros, teharman and Eyre; auditor, Bro. Carter; management committee, Bros. Freeman, Mullaney, and Farrar, ACORN LODGE OF DRUIDS. At the half-yearly summoned meeting of the Acorn Lodge of Druids the A.D., Bro. Capped, presided over a very good attendance. The nomination and election of officers took place and there was a keen contest tor the seats for the ensuing term. P.A. Bro. Bailey was nominated for the position of district president and P.A. Bro. Gulliver as delegate to the Grand Lodge. The following were elected: To represent the lodge on the Hospital Association, P.A. Bro. Ayres; Friendly Societies’ Council, Bros. Ayrers and Henderson; stew*ards, Bros. Tucker and Salmon; social committee, Bros. Salmon, Henderson, Anderson, Blackwell, and Capped. Certificates were presented to the lodge by the district president, certifying to the ability of Bro. Strong in delivering the A.D. charge and Bro. Salmons in delivering the V.A. charge. Bro. Christensen was appointed coach for ritual work and Bro. Bailey for ceremonial. It was decided that nominations and election to the Dispensary Board be left over to 1 the next lodge meeting. Bros. Rennett and Andrews were elected as selectors ior the howls tournament games. Bro. Bailey reported upon bowls contests, Bro. Ayers upon attending the [Friendly Societies Council, and Bro. Matthews upon the state of the Christmas tree fund, which is satisfactory, also that Sister Osman, of Lind Lodge, had made a donation of a tea cosy for competition towards the Christmas fund. A letter of appreciation is to be sent to Sister-Osman. Bro. Hansen also donated a picture for the same purpose. It was decided that the Christmas tree function be held at the Coronation Hall, instead ot bavin" the usual outside distribution of children's toys. An invitation was received from the Oroua Lodge to attend its next meeting when the mstallat'on of officers takes place, and it was decided that Acorn Lodge pay an official- visit on that occasion. Bowls and cards terminated the evening.
