TAXATION AT LEVIN.
STATE’S BIG DIVIDEND. While the Levin Racing Club undoubtedly received a fillip as a result of the outstanding success of its annual race meeting on Saturday, when there was a record attendance and a totalisator turnover far in excess of recent years, the greatest winner on the day was the Treasury. The Government, at no cost to itself for collection, received a cheque for £1230 16s sd, its share resulting from the endeavours of enthusiastic stewards of the club and sporting inclination of the residents of the Manawatu district. The taxation figures paid by the club
