WOODY IDLE, Nov. 25. Outstanding success was achieved by tho annual sale of work and bazaar of St. David's Presbyterian Church, yesterday. The financial result was most satisfactory. Additional interest was shown this year, a section for flower exhibits attracting many entries. Mrs Holder (Palmerston North), was the judge, being assisted by Aliss it. Kirkpatrick as steward. The results of the decorative class were as follow: —Decomtcd basket: Airs Hustwick 1, Miss Beattie 2. Victorian posy: Airs Hustwick 1, Miss K. ltirpatrick 2, Mrs Hartridge 3. Bowl (any flowers) : Aliss J. Kirkpatrick 1, Airs J. Horne 2, Mrs Hartridge 3. Marigolds : m, s Hovel 1, Miss J. Stevenson 2, Mrs E. Hutchinson 3. Iceland .poppies: Mrs Hartridge 1. Miss Hughes 2, ' r, -s
Smith 3. Vaso any flowers: Airs J. Horne 1, Airs B. Hutching 2, Mas-c. Mnu.ice Alunro 3. Sweet peas: Airs O’Neil 1, Mrs Hutchinson 2, Miss Lynch 3. The stalls for tho sale of produce, fancy work, cakes arid sweets were well laden and practically a total clearance was effected. Those who were in charge of the stalls were as follow: Plain sewing, Alcsdanies G"inlinton and Kirkpatrick; fancy work, Misses Kirkpatrick and Airs Hartridge: jumblo stall, Mrs cake stall, iVlesdames Graham, Twaddle and Forbes; produce, Mesdames AlcLean, Smith and Boyd; sweets, Bible Class girls; tea room, Mrs Humo and helpers; door. Aliss Hughes. In the evening, the following contributed a programme to a large audience: —Aliss Joan AlcKay, L.T.C.L., Airs Hume. Aliss N. Ware, Master D. Boyd and Aliss Audrey AVhittington, Alisses Redwood and Oliver, Rev. J. 11. Bovd, Miss N. Lawrence, Miss Lorna Whiteman, Master Hector McLean, Aliss Daisy Ivee Sue. The .accompanists woro Alisses J. AlcKay, G. Johnston and J. Stevenson and Air AVhittington. A ono-act play under the direction of Airs T. Smith created much amusement. those taking part being Alesdames
Ilumo, Hartridge, Smith, Twaddle, Miss Kirkpatrick and D. Boyd. Mr Boyd expressed.the .thanks of (lie guild to all who had assisted. Major L. J. Goss, N.Z.S.C., officer in charge of No. 7 Regimental district, inspected tho Wood villa Mounted Rifle Troop this week. There was a good muster of troopers and Major Goss expressed his approval of the appearance and drilling of the troop. Mrs B. 11. Norman presided at a meeting of tho Kumcroa-Hopelands Women’s Institute. It was decided to hold n Christ mas party. The roll-call, in which the members Had to quote puns, created much amusement, the winner being Mrs Neuman, with Miss Bridges second. A flower competition was won by Miss Arrow, Miss Toogood being second. Mrs T. Kemp read her report on tho half-yearly council meeting. Mrs N. M. Burnett gave an address on Kumcroa’s early pioneering days.
