RURAL RAKINGS.
Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received cable advice from their Bradford agent regarding tho tops market as follows :— Both Merino and crossbred tops aro ljd to 2d up, owing to the rise in the raw material market. A buoyant tone provails. Less business is passing as users of tops aro well covered. Although lie admired tho quality of the Now Zealand flux woolpack, Mr E. Hay, Ohristchnrch, on Monday drew the attention of tho Minister of Agriculture (Hon. W. Lee Martin) to a point in which it might cause loss to farmers. Mr Hay said that ho admired the new pack very much indeed, and was using it, but the 42-inch pack, which should weigh 101 b, actually weighed only 91b. This wa<3 likely tocau.se difficulty because buyers regularly allowed for a 101 b tare with the 42-inch pack. Unless they altered their rule users of thepe packs would be penalised to the extent of one pound on every bale. The Minister said that he would sec if something could be done before tho first sale.
