Tho U.S.S.R. Trade Delegation in Great Britain reports as follows: “According to preliminary figures supplied by the U.S.S.R. trading organisations, the value of the orders placed in September of this year in Great Britain amounted to £836,786 as compared with £734,368 in the corresponding month of the preceding year. During the period January-September, 1936, the orders placed and purchases made in Great Britain totalled £7,684,945 as compared with £7,762.528 in the corresponding period of 1935. "On September 22 negotiations were concluded with the Herring Industry Board for the purchase of 10,000 barrels of herrings during the coming East Anglian season, for shipment to the U.S.S.R. The price per barrel is 35 shillings. Last year the U.S.S.R. bought 50,000 barrels a.t- prices ranging between 26s 6d to 27s per barrel. “A number of commissions are at present visiting Britain to study the possibilities for placing orders in connection with the £10,000,000 credit agreement concluded between the U.S.S.R. and Great Britain on July 28.”
