KAIRANGA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, Oct. 14.

The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held yesterday afternoon, Airs P. Leamy presiding. Visitors from the Alilson Institute were welcomed, also Airs Diveall, a now member. Alesdames AV. AlcClellaud and L. Clark were appointed delegates to the group meeting artd the council meeting. It was decided to donate £1 Is to tho Mission to Lepers. Tho institute decided to use health stamps on their correspondence, and to ask the mornbers to do tho same. Further arrangements were made in regard to the coming flower show, stewards being appointed, etc. Afternoon tea was served by Alesdames Funnell, Collis, Collinge and Cummings, after which Mrs Renwick, of tho Alilson Institute, gavo a very interesting demonstration on beaten brasswork. Some very fine articles were on view. Airs Loamy moved a vote of thanks to Mrs Renwick at the close of the demonstration. Airs Child, of Alilson, judged the ruched cushions competition, which resulted as follow • Seniors, Airs E. Alallett 1, Airs Small 2, Airs T. Turner 3; juniors, Aliss AI. Small 1 Aliss O. Green 2, Aliss G. Hyde 3. The following competitions were judgod by Airs C. Turner and resulted : Gingerbread, Airs H. Green I, Mrs J. Burmeister 2 Mrs E. Kilgour 3: shoulder spray, Aliss T "Kilgour 1, Alis 3 J. Kilgour 2, Aliss F. Eglinton 3. Thero were large entries m all the competitions. Competitions for November aro: Seniors, best laundered shirt and collar; juniors, ohocolatc fudge. Tho demonstration will be on cake icing. Alesdames Davey, Grcon, Alisses Green and Doherty are to be hostesses. A committee meeting of the institute was held yesterday Airs Leamy presiding. Competitions and’ demonstrators were arranged for the next three months. It was decided to have a Christmas tree for tho children in December, also to assist tlio Institute for the Blind’by purchasing a chair for a competition. ‘ The Tennis Club held a euchre tournament at which the attendance was very small. The following were the winners: Ladies, Aliss T. Davey 1, Airs R. Alitchell 2- men. Mr R. Alitchell 1, Air AV. Cummings 2. Trophies were donated by Alessrs H. Turner, O. Collis, G. Davey and L. Clark. Supper was served by tho ladies.
