As the result of what is alleged to have been a domestic dispute between his two brothers and his wife, Matthew Hill, aged 131, a Maori, was to-day charged with attempting to murder Alice Hill. He was remanded till October 14, bail being allowed in his own recognisance of £2OO and two sureties of £2OO. It is alleged that a rifle was fired in the house, and that the bullet penetrated a door and went out through the roof. No one was injured.
