AUSTRALIAN TURF.
YOUNG CRUSADER’S VICTORY
GOLD ROD TO SPELL
Received October 6, 11.35 a.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 6.
Gold Rod is now experiencing ligament trouble and will not be raced again till next autumn. Capris has been rehandicapped 71b to 8.4 for the Caulfield Cup. The Sydney Morning Herald, commenting on the Metropolitan, says Young Crusader recorded one of the most remarkable wins yet witnessed in the Metropolitan. Taking full advantage of his light weight, he had all the other runners struggling hard from the half-mile, liven his strongest supporters did not anticipate that he would spread-eagle such a strong field.
