LICENSING COMMITTEE.
MEMBER RE-ELECTED. There is provision in the Licensing Act setting out that a member who has been absent from the meetings of a Licensing Committee lor two consecutive occasions automatically forfeits his seat. When a new appointment is made it is the policy of the Government to nominate the same person. Mr M. A. Eliott, of Palmerston North, owing to his trip abroad, recently forfeited his seat on the Palmerston North Licensing Committee, under the provisions of the Act, and his reappointment has now been gazetted.
