DAIRY ADVANCES INCREASE. STERLING EXCHANGE LESS. WELLINGTON, Oct. 2.
Proportion of reserve (No. 7 less No. 5) to notes and other demand liabilities, 88.504 per cent., compared with 89.694 per cent, on September 21. A further increase of £201,119 in advances to the State’s Dairy Industry Account has brought the total amount to £1,095,350. Advances to the State for other purposes remain unchanged at £700.000. Sterling exchange shows a further decrease of £85.938, the total holding now being £16,835,564. Gold remains unchanged at £2,801,733, but subsidiary coin at £170,524 shows a decrease of £1771. Investments total £2,123,576, an increase of £87,726. Other assets total £66,718, a decrease of £1529.
On the liabilities side the note issue is lower by £19.728, the total now being £11,174.757. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £3,898,063, a decrease of £52,134. The trading banks’ reserve balances show a further increase of £219.851, the total being £6,873,521. Other demand liabilities at £241,635 show an increase of £50.647. Other liabilities amount to £105,489, an Increase of £971. The statement balances at £23,793,466, an increase of £199,608.
