FIRE CALLS.
INCREASE ON LAST YEAR. When compared with the corresponding period of last year the number of calls received by the Palmerston North Fire Brigade during the quarter ended .September 30, shows an increase of five. Calls were received to four actual fires: seven were false alarms, five of which were maliciously given; 18 were chimney tires, two were hedge fires, and three were burning cars. Last month 12 summonses were received, these comprising four fires, one false alarm, nine chimney, fires, and one outbreak in a ear.
