A RECIPE.
CALIFORNIAN CAKE. Ingredients:—s eggs, 7oz. sugar, Boz. flour, 1 teaspoonful lemon juice, 1 glassful orange juice, pinch of salt, 2 teaspoonsful baking powder. Method : Separate the whites of the eggs from the yolks. Beat the yolks until foamy, add half the sugar and continue to beat until the sugar is dissolved. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder, and add alternately with the fruit juices. Lastly fold in stiffly-beaten whites of eggs to which lias been added tho remainder of the sugar. Bake for one hour in a slow oven.
