(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTOX, Sept. 30.

j\lr W. J. Ross, of l’oplar, is at present an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital where he is to undergo an operation for appendicitis. The small daughter of Mr and Airs 1 1- . J. Woodliam, of Poplar Hoad, Moutoa, met with a painful accident while playing with some other children, when she had one of her fingers cut olf with an axe. Airs J£. Ebbett, of Johnston Street, is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Aliss G. Coley has returned to Foxton after an enjoyable holiday spent in Wellington. The fourth and final number of a series of ‘ Good News” dances, which have been organised by a committee of members of St. Mary’s Church, took place in the Town Hall. Visitors were present from Palmerston North, Levin, Shannon, Oroua Downs, Rangiotu, and the surrounding district. Air F. U. Brady ably officiated as AJ.C. An orchestra rendered the latest dance melodies and a programme of modern dancing interspersed with one or two old favourites completely satisfied all demands. A farewell social in honour of Air It. A. Robbie was hold by the pupils of the secondary department of the Foxton District High School. Jack Shorthouse (prefect) expressed regret at Mr Robbie’s departure from Foxton and handed him a handsome set of books. Alembcrs of the Old Pupils’ Association have also given him a small token of appreciation.
