Mr W. A. Sharp, the secretary of T the Opunake Power Board, has been appointed to a similar position with the South Taranaki Board. His successor is Mr. T. R. P. Baigent. Mr L. R. Leary, of Nelson, has arrived in Palmerston North and has commenced his duties as manager of the Mayfair Theatre. Mr T. L. Craigie, Mr Leary’s predecessor, is at present acting temporarily as manager of the Regent Theatre. Mr J. A. Nash was yesterday elected president of the Manawatu Bowling Centre for the 24th year. Mr Nash enjoys a wide popularity in bowling c.rcles, which is reflected in the marked confidence shown by Manawatu bowlers in their continued choice of him as president of the centre. Mr H. Brinsden, a member of the St. Patrick’s Football Club and a Manawatu representative player, has t .' been appointed to the sales Staff of a New Zealand firm and his activities will take him away periodically from Palmerston North, but he expects to play in Palmerston North in the next Rugby season. Constable R. Busch, who left Palmerston North to-day for Addington, whither he has been transferred, was presented with a clock yesterday as an expression of esteem from other members of the Police Force at Palmerston North. henior-Sergeant Moriarty made the presentation and expressed to the departing constable good wishes for success in his new post. The large number of friends who attended the funeral of the late Mr G. A. Nicol; of Palmerston North at the Kelvin Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, and also the number of floral expressions of sympathy, testified to the esteem in which he wa6 held. The service at the graves.de was conducted by Canon G. Y, Woodward and the pallbearers were Messrs 14. Mackley (Pahiatua), J. Mackley (Miasterton), S. Smith, W. Nolan and A. Bowden (Palmerston North) and B. Henderson (Sanson). Mr P. Skoglund. of Stratford, who is presiding at the sittings of the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority in Palmerston North, arrived in the city yesterday from Taumarunui and is to proceed to Wellington after the business here concludes to-morrow. He then goes to Mnsterton and Napier, and with the sittings at those centres £ will conclude the hearing of cases concerning passenger vehicles in his district. A commencement will then be made -with the consideration of goods service licenses.

The death occurred in Mastertou yesterday, after a short illness, of Mr Henry Francis G. Frost, orchard inspector of the Department of Agriculture, Mastertou, at the age of 58. The second sou of Dr. E. Frost, J.P.. lie was horn in County Clare, Ireland, and was educated at St. Flannals School, Ennis and Glasnevin College, Dublin. His early life was spent in South Africa and Canada, and he came to New Zealand in 1909. Before settling in Masterton he had lived in Nelson, Whangarei, and Wanganui. Two of his brothers, now deceased, were Colonel A. F. Frost, It.A.M.C., and Very Rev. Father Edmund Frost, rector of St. Xavier College, Kew, Melbourne. Another brother, Colonel W. A. Frost, 0.8. E., R.A.M.C., is living in Hong Kong.
