At the Ascot races Firebrick was second in the Maiden Hurdlo Race; Night Club was third and Gay Songster unplaced in the Nullabor Maiden Handicap; Counterflight was unplaced in the Chelmsford Novice Handicap, and Cape Race and Valarth were unplaced in tho Halsbury Welter Handicap. WIN FOR CERNE ABBAS. RACE RECORD AT KENSINGTON. SYDNEY, Sept. 30. At tho Kensington races tho following was tho result of the Encourago Stakes: G'crne Abbas, 7.13 (Wallace), 1; Amusing, 7.11, 2; Menu, 8.7, 3. Sixteen started. A head; a length. Time, 2.10i —a race record. Idavalo was unplaced in the Threo and Four-Year-Old Handicap, and Prince Pombal and Cherry King were unplaced in tho Flying Handicap. Wananga, winner of the Trial Stakes at Napier Park, is one of the first of the progeny of tho Australian-bred horse Oration, by Ciccroi from Elsie Hart, who scored a surprise win in the Avondale All- - Stakes in 1925, says the Auckland Herald. Bred by Dr. C. Blundell, of Te Awamutu, Wananga is raced by Mr W. Hogan and is a four-year-old gelding from Flower Gold, by St. Amans from Shower Gold, by Marble Arch from the imported mare Merry N’if, by Merry Hampton. Merry Nif was the dam of General Latour and Shower Gold producod King Lu, so that there have been some good gallopers in the family. Tuckerbox, who beat Peter Pan’s halfbrother Brazilian in tho Warwick Farm Novice Handicap on September 5, has been purchased by the well-known woman owner, “Miss Loma Doone.” Tuckerbox’s new owner also owns Sylvandale and Billy Boy, and as her new purchase gives much promise, her colours are likely to be well to the fore throughout the spring racing carnivals. Tuckerbox will continue to he trained by E. D. Lawson. The colt is ongaged in the A.J.C. and Victoria Derbies, lie is also in the Caulfield Cup with 7.0, and in the Melbourne Cup with 6.12. He has been supported for tho Melbourne Cup at long prices, and was coupled in doubles with fancied Caulfield Cup horses.
