WAR CEMETERIES
THE KING ’IMPRESSED. WORK OF COMMISSION. MESSAGE OF COMFORT. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received September 17, 9.25 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 16.
Captain the Hon. A. H. L. Hardinge, assistant private secretary to the King, has sent a letter to Sir Fabian Ware, on behalf of the King, stating that the King wishes the members of the Imperial War Graves Commission to know how deeply His Majesty was impressed by the beauty of the cemeteries on the Peninsula and the care with which the war graves on the battlefields ot Holies, Anzac, and Suvla are tended. His Majesty was glad to have the opportunity of seeing another example of the fine work ot the War Graves Commission, representing all the peoples ol the British Empire united in a common task.
“The King trusts that the knowledge of this work may bring comfort to all in this country, also New Zealand, Australia, and India, who mourn the dead of the Dardanelles campaign,” the letter adds.
