YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Tho W ellington share market was steady yesterday, with no marked changes. G. J. Coles advanced to sales at 82s 6d, while Goldsbrough, Mort changed hands at 34s (Jd. Australian Glass were wanted at 93s 9d, with sellers asking 9-l.s 3d. Consolidated Brick were in strong demand, with sales at 9s Gd and 9s od.

On the Stock Exchange profit-taking today caused a slight reaction in prices here and there, but the tone of the market was firm.

The new portrait of the King by Mr Richard Sickert has been sold to a private British collector Cor a figure which has not been disclosed.

Of Britain’s total national income, 16 per cent, goes to the rich, 28 per cent, to the middle classes and just over 50 per cent, to the poor.
