9 here were about one hundred present at the golfers’ reunion function, held m the Municipal Hall in the evenlng, and arranged by the Palmerston North Golf Club. Mr Harold Bennett presided in the absence of Mr C. D. Fraser. A professional orchestra was in attendance.

The chairman proposed the toast of Visiting Clubs.” He welcomed the members of other clubs, adding that it was most encouraging to see so many present. Ho also complimented the Manawatu Club on the splendid condition of the Hokowhitu course and congratulated the club on their recovery from the storm damage. The reply to the toast was made jointly by Messrs C. G. Moore (Manawatu), W. Watson (Pahiatua) and It. McDonald (Raumai).

The roll was called by Mr C. Voss and it was answered by players from the Manawatu, Palmerston North, Raumai, Pahiatua, Apiti, Buckley, Foxton, Hutt, Carterton, Awapuni and Aero Clubs.

The toast of “The Palmerston North City Council” was proposed by Mr D. H. Cook, who said that the Palmerston North Golf Club had always been in difficulties as to the provision of a course, but tic/if one was being constructed at West End. The club would take it over on certain conditions and the members were deeply conscious -of the debt they owed to the City Council .

The reply was made by Mr G. Tremaine, deputy-Mayor and chairman of the reserves committee. He submitted an apology for absence from the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mans ford), who had been unable to remain at the gathering. At the new course, he said, there were 92 acres available and a course of championship length was to be made. He ventured to predict that the course would be a first class one in time, also that its construction would mean one of the best works undertaken by the City Council on its reserves and it would give the best results financially. Mr W. L. Fitzherbert proposed the toast of “Our Professionals,” making eulogistic reference to Mr J. R. Galloway and to Mr A. E. Ekstedt. Mr Fitzherbert added that he had a particular interest in the professionals and that he had been president of the Professional Golfers’ Association of New Zealand for several years and also vice-president for a longer term. Mr Ekstedt suitably replied to the toast. The trophies won were presented at a suitable juncture by Mr Moore and in one case, where there was a tie, the holding of a trophy was decided by the toss of a coin. Those contributing to the entertainment programme were Messrs T. Simpson, J. Selwyn, S. Toon, W. Allan and C. Voss. The reunion committee consisted of Messrs C. D. Fraser, C. Voss, C. Ciochetto, A. Macdonald, R. Looney, D. H. Cook, J. Selwyn, C. J. AValsh, T. Simpson, E. Wilson, E. Simpson, W. H. Skinner, N. Bailey and H. Mullaney.
