LOCAL VOTES.
NEW POLICE STATION. AGRICULTURAL LABORATORY. Included in the votes under the Public Works Estimates for the current year i 6 £2875 for an agricultural laboratory at Palmerston North. An allocation of £SOO was made towards this last year, but not expended, and this makes available a total of £2B7s—the anticipated cost of the work when it was authorised.
The sum of £3OOO has been voted to the Massey Agricultural College for the purchase of additional land. COURTHOUSE ADDITIONS. Other local votes are £295 for additions to the Palmerston North Courthouse, completing an amount of £2105 originally authorised, £lBlO having so far been expended. The sum of £325 has been placed on the Estimates for additions to the Levin Courthouse.
The sum of £IO,OOO has been placed on the Estimates for the Palmerston North police station, a new building being projected. Last year £3345 was voted, and £3657 expended on the new lock-up. The total estimated cost of the work when authorised was £12,465. There is a vote of £4OO for the Woodville police station, making available, with an unexpended vote of £IOOO last year, a total of £I4OO. For the Levin police station £2OO has been voted. There is a vote of £BIOO for the new Post Office at Pabiatua. LANDS IMPROVEMENT.
Under the heading of lands improvement there is a vote of £5500 for sanddune reclamation from Hokio (Levin) to the mouth of the Manawatu River, the total projected cost of the work when it was authorised being £10,090, of which £2393 has been expended to date.
