LORD GALWAY

TO ATTEND SPRING SHOW. DATES ALTERED. Advice was received by the general committee of the Mnnawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, to-day, from Major A Purvis, military secretary to the Governor-General, Lord Galway* that His Excellency had pleasure in accepting, for November 4, the invitation extended to him to attend the association’s annual Spring Show. Lady Galway regretted that, owing to engagements in Wellington on that afternoon, Her Excellency would be unable to be present, and neither of the other two days were possible owing to the arrival of Lord Hartington in New Zealand on November 5. Owing to the change made in the statutory half-holiday in Palmerston North, it' was decided by the committee to alter the Spring Show dates from November 4, 5 and 6 to November 5, 6 and 7, in order to secure the advantage of the Saturday half-holiday for the fixture, with stock on exhibition for the first two days, and a carnival on the last day. Consequently it was resolved to advise His Excellency of the circumstances which had necessitated the change, and to invite him to attend the Show on the day most convenient to him.
