GAS WARFARE.

DISREGARD OF BAN. NOT A GENERAL RULE. Received Julv 16, 11.10 a.m. LONDON. Julv 15. “Italy’s use of gas in Abyssinia does not mean that the ban can be disregarded in the event of war among the European Powers,” declared the Earl of Plymouth in the House of Lords. He added that tlie Government intended strongly to uphold tlie AntiGas Convention. He felt certain that there would be widespread indignation if it was suggested that the use of gas bo legalised in the future. Referring to Malta., Lord Plymouth said the Government had not tlie slightest intention of evacuating the island. They would take everv measure to make the defences secure against attack.
