WELDED BARGE.
LAUNCHING CEREMONY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 15. . With appropriate ceremony the new oil barge Hinuwai, built for the Union Company, was launched from the Evans Ray slip this afternoon. A brief ceremony was held at tjie bow of the barge, which was officially named and Jauched by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan), who smashed a bottle of champagne against the side. The barge is tho largest hull constructed in New Zealand and involved a povel departure in construction, the old method of riveting having been discarded in favour of electric welding.
