BRITISH ASSURANCES
(British Official Wireless.) Received July 14, 12.10 p.m. RUGBY, Jufy 13. In a Parliamentary answer regarding the conference at Montrcux on the straits regime, the Prime Minister (Mr Baldwin) said that in the opinion of His Majesty’s Government there was no reason why the speedy conclusion of a new Straits Convention need be prejudiced in any' way by the unilateral and provisional assurances recently given by Britain to certain Mediterranean Powers.
