EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD,” JULY 15, 1906. Mr AV. J. Poison had resigned from the editorship of the Christchurch Truth to undertake farming. Mr E. C. Huie, formerly of the Otago Daily Times, succeeded Mr Poison. An agricultural science class was to be started in connection with the Feilding Technical School. The Pohangina County Council required a county clerk. Tho salary was £2OO a year. A firm of (laxmillora at Shannon was importing machinery to bleach the dressed fibre in a few hours. A message from Paris stated that the Court of Cassation bad. decided that Major Dreyfus was innocent of the accusations of forgery. The former judgment under which he had been sent to Devil’s Island bad been quashed. Dreyfus was to be made a major and a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour.
