RURAL RAKINGS. At a sale at Broken Hill of pastoral properties in New South Wales, a total area of 1,400,000 acres was offered. Although up to 100 pastoralists were present, only, one property was sold—--228,825. acres—in the estate of the late Sir Sidney Kidman. The price was Did an acre. Fair prices were realised hy a small offering of new potatoes at the Auckland markets the other day, values ranging from lyd to 3Jd per lb. It is expected that for the next few weeks further small supplies will come to hand from Pukekohe each week.
Although the quantiv of wool disposed of at the Sydney sales in the year ended June DO was 30,700 hales less than in. the preceding year, the amount realised represented an increase of £5,157,737. An interesting addition to the purebred Clydesdale stock of Otago is the three-year-old colt Jim Baillie, purchased by Mr A. 1). Wink (Kelso) at Melbourne. Jim Baillie was one of the recent shipment of 12 Clydesdales landed at Melbourne ex Anchises. Competent judges in Australia described this consignment as one of the best ever sent out to the Commonwealth.
