(From Our Own Correspondent,) HALCOMBE, July 13. The fortnightly cuchro and dance held by the School Committee on Friday_ evening- was not very well attended, owing to a counter-attraction in the Jubilee Hall. The euchre prizes -were won by IMres McKay and Mr G. Hutton, with Miss 0. Voss and Mr E. Wisehnowsky filling the position of runncrs-up. The Methodist Gymnasium Club held a very enjoyable social in the Jubilee Hall on Friday evening, there being a largo contingent of visitors from Feilding. Under the guidance of Mr It. Akcrs the young people thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The programme was as follows: —Grand March, Jollv Miller, ping pong ball relay, competition Bingo, song by Mrs Hcwison, balloon relay, musical aims, matchbox relay, potato rolav. Grand Old Duke of York. The local seniors fully justified the optimism of their supporters on Saturday when thov defeated W'anganui Technical Old Boys by 9—B. There was great satisfaction in the village on Saturday evening when the players returned with tho glad news.
