RADIO COMMUNICATION.

USE BY POWER BOARD. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 13. Repair work carried out by the Auckland Electric, Power Board will be greatly facilitated shortly by the use of two-way radio communication for which official permission has been given. The proviso that the wavelength fixed at 182:9 metres may be reserved for similar public utility services raises the question of the extension of such radio communication, particularly in relation to ambulance work.

At a meeting of the board the general manager reported that the Post-master-General, following a recent interview* had favourably considered the representations made by the board regarding two-way radio communication between service trucks and the central station. “I propose to follow this matter up without delay and obtain the necessary license,” said the manager. ‘‘l also intend to bring before the board as soon as possible full details of the equipment and an estimate of the cost.” The board would be able to obtain a license allowing for the operation of a private station and two trucks equipped with receiving and transmitting sets, while the same wave-length could be used by other power boards who intended to use the radio.- There was little clanger of interference or congestion;
