LONGBURN.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBURN. July 13. A happy function was organised by the Anglican Ladies’ Guild to t are veil Uov. I’. O. Ball. Games, competitions, and communily singing occupied most ot the evening, and Messrs C. bhirriff.-, I. I' laser, and D. Rowland rendered vocai solos and duets. Mr C. C. Hills presented Mr Ball villi a crystal salad bowl, it being a gift from the church people of Longhorn. .Mr Hills said that although everybody was sorry Mr Ball was leaving ail realised that in taking over the parish of Martinborcugh he was moving into a wider field of work, giving greater scope tor his undoubted ability. Mr Hilts also mentioned Mr Ball’s approaching marriage, and in wishing, him everv success in his ministry also wished him much happiness in his-future life. Rev. Canon Woodward also spoke, mentioning the splendid work done by Mr Ball, especially among the younger members ol‘ tho Church. Not only would he be losing a good, worker, lint altso a very dear friend. In returning thanks Mr Ball said he had been verv happy in his work at Longburn. Everybody had been kind to him and had always made him feci very welcome whenever" he had visited them in their homes. He thanked the Sunday School teachers for their devotion to their work, the Girls’ Club loader for the successful functioning of the club, and everybody for loyal cooperation in all tilings for the betterment of the Church, both spiritually and materially. Members of the Ladies’ Guild served supper and tlje evening concluded with the singing of “Auk! Linin' Svno.”
