(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIKOREA, July 14. The Taikorea IVomen’s Institute held llieir imctbly meeting last week, Airs J. llcliii- presiding. Alisa Bailey lead tilinstitute creed. Several apo.ogics were received from absent members these nicluclin>. Mrs Burmiester, Mrs Hancock ana Mrs Ron-ers. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Hancock m the • recent loss of her sister, members striding m silence. Mrs Will, of Rongotca gave an interesting demonstration oil ill", also showing liow to make cellophane beTts ind slippers from old felt hats. Hie competition, gr the best table centre was won by Miss Eileen Smith. Mis Waisii being second and Mrs C. Gray thud 1 was decided to present Airs R. Algal (tormerly Miss Standon) with a rug. the presentation will be made at a kitchen tea which is shortly to be given in honour ot the newly married couple. A 'ptc 01 thanks was accorded Mrs W.l for her interesting demonstration and also foi juOfc mg tlie competition. Afte.noon tea was served by tbe hostesses, Mrs Castle, Mis Gray and Miss Cornwall. Oil Friday, the Taikorea-Glen Oioua school Rugby team defeated Carnarvon by 23 points to 3. Tries were scored by cLrlie Webb,. Gibson Hill and Bob Alurpby.
