WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

LAST WEEK’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Apart from some substantial dealings in Government stocks on Friday, business on the 'Wellington Stock Exchange last week was mainly in. industrial and trading issues. Bank shares received more attention, but prices showed no improvement. The Dominion markets as a whole were less active during the week. Government loans showed little change. A total of £40,500 worth of 4 per cent, stocks was sold at Wellington on Friday, otherwise trading was slack. Business in local body' stocks was confined to Auckland issues, and in company issues New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Association 4£ per cents formed the bulk of the turnover. Bank of New Zealand shares were fairly active. Business improved from 40s 4d to 425, blit later sales were mostly at 41s 3d to 41s 6d. 'The D long term ortgage issue sold at 28s 6d. Following the anouncement of an unchanged rate ot dividend. Commercial of Australia eased from 19s 3d to 18s 8d and 18s 9d. Other bank issues showed little change on a restricted turnover. Insurance and financial shares were more active and showed minor changes. Goldsbrough Mort improved from 30s 2d to 31s 3d and 31s. In the industrial sections no special, features were seen. Brewery and woollen shares were the most active New Zealand issues. Australian were well favoured and sold at firm rates. Australian Glass recovered on sales from 88s 9d to 91s 9d. Broken Hill Proprietary and Dunlop I’erdriau were fully’firm. Burns. Philp .wero in favour and moved up front 75s to 76s 9d. Electrolytic Zinc were a strong market and Hume Pipe were well supported. • G. J. Coles wore actively traded, blit after touching 86s 6d early in the week, they showed a weakening tendency and eased on sales down to 82s. The Woolworths issues wero quieter, and tho Sydney shares eased to £5 17s. Mining issues were actively traded, Mount Morgan boing the best supported.
