JAMES LANGRIDGE, the Sussex left-handed all-round cricketer, well-known in Auckland, bowling in the two-day test trial at Lord’s on June 15 and 16, rain having made play impossible on the Saturday. Each side completed one innings, North scoring 321 (J. Hardstaff 89, R. W. V. Robins and A. R. Gover five wickets each), South replying with 363 (M. J. Turnbull 106). Langridge was selected for the first international, in which the Indians were beaten by nine wickets. He had scored 19 in his only innings, but had no success with the ball.
