ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent) ASHHURST, July 10. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held this week, those being present Messrs M.' P. Wilkin (chairman), R. D. Davies (secrotary), W. Drummond, E. Tunniclitfc and the headmaster (Mr Finlay). The headmaster reported that there were 123 children on the roll, with an average attendance of 115. The relieving teacher (Mrs Bursin) had been replaced by Miss E. Lumsdoi as infant mistress. The half-yearly examinations have been Jteld and arrangements also made for Arbor Day. If possible, a.n address would be given and shrubs planted in the shrubbery. The cocoa club was reported as functioning very satisfactorily and was a great boon to children. The headmaster requested tho committee to approach the Education Board for extra seating accommodation for the infant room. Miss R. West, of Woodville, is the guest of Mr? A. West, Feilditig Road, Ashhurst. Mr J. Brower has returned home after an extended visit to Cambridge. Mr Geo. Dnvonport. who has been visiting Wellington and Masterton, has returned home.
