NEW BUILDING.
MOTOR SHOWROOM TO BE ERECTED. The encouraging activity in the building industry in the city, as illustrated by the number of new buildings in courses of erection or contemplated, will receive an added fillip by the erection of new premises for Messrs F. AI. K. Motors, Ltd., at the corner of llangitikei and Featherston Streets. The building, which will occupy the site of Messrs lvnight and Day’s premises, will cover an area of 13 400 square feet and have a frontage of 100 ft to llangitikei Street and 134 ft to Featherston Street. It will comprise a garage, showroom, and service station of the most modern design, embodying also the latest colour design. . 'rhe service station will be centrally situated on the corner, and the layout provides for the maximum amount of freedom for cars going to and from the benzine pumps. A feature of this department will be a specially illuminated show display right on the corner and between this and the line ,of pumys there will be an 18-foot thorougfuare. There will be the same access on°tlie other side of the pumps. It is stated that this new petrol-filling station will be one of the largest and most modern in the district. On the city side of the service station will be the large showroom with a 44-foot frontage, while entrance to the garage, workshops and storage area for 75 cars will be from Featherston Street.. In addition to providing much better visibility at this busy intersection by reason of the planning, the firm will brighten up this area of the city with illuminated sky-signs. The architect is Mr R. Thorrold .laggard, while the new building, which is expected to be ready for occupation about the middle of October is being built to the order of Mr N. H. Sinclair.
