(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, July 10.
Mr J. Warnock, who recently underwent a slight operation in a private hospital in Hawera, is making good progress. Rev. G. K. Moir, at one time vicar in Otaki leaves next month to take up a position in Scotland. Mr and Mrs Moir will tarry with them the host wishes ot a large circle of friends. Mr W. Higgins, who is at present .n England, expects to return to New Zealand at the tnd ol August and with Mrs Higgins and their two daughters will later leave for England in time to be present at the Coronation. The Otaki Unemployment Distress Belief Committee met this week the Mayor (Mr T. O’Rourke) presiding. Revs, l'athcr Venning and G. Watson were e.ccted to the committee in tho place of Revs. Father Riordan and F. S. Ramson (removed from tho district). The report of the secretary on the positicn with regard to unemployment was read. It was considered that there was no necessity at the present time for the issue o'f ration orders, and it was decided that the clergy m the meantime have authority to relieve specially necessitous cases, and report to the secrctaiy.
