RIOTS ON RIVIERA
TROUBLE AT NICE. THOUSANDS CLASH. VIOLENCE STILL UNCONTROLLED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 13. 1.45 p.m. NICE, July 12. Two thousand police and Civil Guards were called out to suppress trouble between Rightists and Leftists arising from a meeting of the Popular Party, attended by 10.000 people.
Communists and Socialists barred the streets and fights were numerous, many being admitted to hospital. Cafe tables were upset and crockery smashed.
A patriot who en\grapped himself in the French flag tried to force his way through the Communist ranks. He was deprived of the Tricolour and was severely injured before being rescued. Another man, crying “Viva Mussolini!” was removed in an ambulance. The riots continue.
