COMMITTEES ELECTED. YESTERDAY’S SESSION. AVELLINGTON, July 3. The Anglican Synod of the Diocese | of Wellington continued its sitting yesterday, Canon Percival James presiding in his capacity as Primate s . commissary. I Barnett (Tinui) the diocesan board of trustees was given authority to sell, part of the Yvliareama block. j The synod, on the motion of Air E. j B. Toomath (Wanganui), heartily commended a proposal to erect windows, in tho new church at Putiki to tho memeory of Rev. A. O. Porritt. | It was stated in the report of the ; Diocesan Alissionary Committee for : tiie year ended June 19, 1936, tiiat the diocesan quota set by the Board , of Alissions remained tile same as lor I last year, £3465. Up to date £2221 ; had been received. The special codec- 1 tioiT for the Alelanesian Alission dur- j ing the year realised £517, as against £442. The committee again expressed its appreciation of the good work done by clergy, vestrymen and all concerned, and of the well maintained contributions of parishes, but it hoped that the quotas would be regarded as a moral and financial obligation on the part of the vestries as representing the parishioners. It urged that the quota should be considered arc a minimum objective, and not the maximum of J financial help hoped for from tho parishes.
