ANNUAL MEETING OF R.S.A. (From Our Own Correspondent.) lIALCOMBE, July 2. There was quite a good muster of local and Fcilding members of the R.S.A. at the annual meeting of the Ilaleonibe subbranch on Tuesday evening. The president (Mr Graham Burgess) welcomed the visitors. Reviewing the past year, Mr Burgess said he thought they could congratulate themselves on a successful period. They had 30 financial members and a credit balance of over £3O. This represented an increase of £6 on last year’s balance. Two dances had been held and' though financially they had not bent outstrndmg* successes, socially they had been all that could he desired. He and the secretary had paid one visit to the Feilding branch, for an executive meeting. One of the members had had the misfortune to have his cowshed badly smashed by fallen trees during a galo. The branch had voted him £lO in addition to providing a “working bee’ to help him. The sales of poppies for Anzac Day th s year (196) constituted a record for the branch, heing an increase of 84 on last 3-ear’s figures. Miss Forgusson had made a permanent wreath for use on Anzac Day, and thanks were duo to her. To Mrs Managh, senr., who had given the use of the Jubilee Ilall free for Anzac J.)ay_. he extended thanks. Major McLeod, of the Fcilding branch, complimented the members dT the sub-branch on their excellent progress and financial position, stating that they were in a better position than many town branches. 110 also stated that if at any time the sub-branch needed assistance. Fcilding would bo only too pleased to help. Mr 1.. Miller, secretary of the Fcilding branch, gave a general outhne of the activities at the annual conference in Wellington. The meeting decided that a ladies’ committee should be formed to assist with social functions. The date of the reunion was fixed as July 25. Votes of thanks to the hon. auditor, the ladies, donors of troplres rnd the Feilding Pipe Band were passed. The election of officers resulted: —President, Mr G. Burgess (re-elected); secretary, Mr I. McLennan (re-elected); committee, Messrs E. W. Cowdrey, C. Campbell, N. Blundon, A, E. Prior, and R. Williams; lion, auditor, Mr F. M. Saywell (re-elected). The president and secretary were given power to operate on the bank account. Delegates to the Feilding branch are the chairman and secretary. JUBILEE MEETING.

The public meeting hold in the school on Wednesday evening, to carry out further preliminary work in connection with next year’s jubilee celebration, was very well attended, about fifty being present. Mr E. W. Cowdrey was unanimously elected chairman and the work of forming committees was proceeded with. The following were appointed : —Local history committee, Messrs W. S. Page, Robt. It was deckled that tenders be invited for catering for afternoon tea on the second day. The following times were recommended to the executive: Ceremony at the school, 10 a.in. on the first day; procession, 12.30-1 p.rn. on tlie second day; thanksgiving service, 2 p.ni. on the last day. A letter from the secretary. Mr J. Wischnowsky, slated that, as he had accepted a position in (ho Railway Department, he was compelled io resign his position

as secretary. The resignation was accepted with regret. Miss V. Wilson was appointed. with Mr A. Noffke as assistant-secre-tary. PERSONAL. Mr P. Ait ken, one of the Ilaleonibe Football Chill’s first forwards, has left the district to lake dp a position in the \\ airarapa. Miss D. Lane, who has been relieving on tiie sta.ff of the local school, has been transferred to Ohakune. Miss M. Barnes, of Trcntkain. has replaced Miss Lane. Mr J. Wischnowsky has now left to lake u)i a position in the Railway Department. Mr Wischnowsky. who will lie stationed in the Auckland district, will be another less to the senior font hall team. Miss Mary Keith, formerly of Haleomlic. is spending a holiday with Misses C. and A. Rogers. Mr and Mrs N. Blundell, of Kakariki. accompanied by Mrs Gray and Miss Gray, have left on a motor tour of the East ‘Coast and Rotorua.
