I'AHIATUA, July 2. The Bush District. Primary Schools’ Sports Association held its annual meeting in the Hamita Hall on Wednesday night, Mr R. Alaboy presiding. Air Alaboy spoke feelingly of the work of the executive, making special mention of Alessrs L. A. Harrington (vice-president) and R. G. AlcKcnzie (secretary). The finances of the association were reported to be. in a satisfactory position. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Air Alaboy; vice-president. Air E. A. Harrington; secretary, Air R. G. AlcKenzic; executive, the president, vice-president and secretary. It was decided to hold the next sports meeting at Eketalnina. The chairman stated that £35. was in hand for distribution among the schools. He thought part of that amount should be kept back, but held the view that too much money should not he accumulated. The allocations were decided on the following basts: —Grade 3 schools, £1 17s 6d; grade 2, £1; grade 1, 12s 6d. The chairman read tlio draft of a constitution for the association as recommended by tlio cxci.itlive, and it was decided that it he adopted. A suggestion was put forward that the sports Lie held on a fixed day each year—the second Wednesday in March. It was decided to recommend the executive to hold the sports on either the second or third Wednesday in March. The chairman reported that tlio Ballance School had won both the senior and junior competitions this year, and as the executive thought it undesirable for Ballanco to hold both cups, the runnersup in the junior competition Hukanui) wore allowed to hold that cup. The action of the executive in this matter was endorsed by the meeting. The Education Board had written stating that the committee could grant only three holidays in one year and that only competing children of any school, who had already boon granted three days’ holiday by the committee, would bo allowed a holiday for the school sports: also that committees, must make individual application for a holiday. The secretary was empowered to ask the board to make application for a holiday on behalf of all competing schools, and that the holiday bo not regarded as one of the three special holidays. The Bush Rugby Union entertained the Ilorowhemta team at a dinner after the Bcbbington Shield match on Wednesday. At a recent meeting of the Pahiatua Tennis Club, members discussed the question of holding a ball. It was eventually agreed to hold a bail in August, the arrangements being placed in the hands of a special committee.

Aliss J. Urquhart, of Hastings, is visit ing Aliss C. Newman, of Dawson Street. After having spent a hsliday with Airs A. J. Rutherford, of Alfredton, Airs Lund of the United States, has left on her return journey.
