VALEDICTORY.
MR AND MRS C. J. HAY. Mr and Mrs C. J. Hay, who leave for Waipukurau next week, were guests of honour at a function Held by Mr and Mrs L. F. Cooper at their residence in Carlton Avenue on Wednesday evening. Mr Hay, who is on the staff of the Public Trust Office, has been transferred to Waipukurau on promotion. Mrs Cooper wore red wool lace, and Mrs Hay was attired in black taffeta with a shoulder spray of cyclamens. Iceland poppies, daphne, red berries and marigolds were used for the decorations and lent their individual notes of colour. The evening was happily occupied in dancing and music, supper also being served. Mr Cooper took the opportunity to present Mr and Mrs Hay, on behalf of those present, with an electric jug, and conveyed very best wishes for every success in their new sphere of activities.'. Mr Hay suitably replied, saying that there would always be a warm welcome for their Palmerston North friends in Waipukurau. The guests present were Mr and Mrs J. W. Muir, Mr and Mrs H. I). Cook. Mr and Mrs A.E. Lynch, Mr and Mrs A. E. Ekstedt, Mr and Mrs B. C. Dickson, Mr and Mrs J. K. McManus. Mr and Mrs V. Christiansen, Mrs W. Stephens, Mr and Mrs T. Stubbs and Mr 11. Hay.
