GOLF IN FRANCE.
“FANTASTIC PRIZES.” PARIS, July 2. Speaking at the presentation of prizes at the pavilion, at the conclusion of the French open golf championshin. Cotton, who was beaten, said: “The prizes offered in French golf are fantastic. It is almost an insult to give such ridiculously small sums to some of the world’s best golfers. If you want good play in France offer better money. Ido not mean to cause ill-feeling: I am simply putting the case of the players.” His speech was received in silence.
Dallemagne’s prize was £BS and Cotton’s £52.
