INDIAN CIVIL SERVICE.
FEWER EUROPEAN CANDIDATES. (British Official Wireless.) "RUGBY, July 1. According to the completed figures, 145 Europeans and 246 Indians have entered for the Indian Civil Service London examinations this year. In order to remedy the under-recruit-ment of Europeans for the Indian Civil Service, the Secretary for India proposed to begin selecting this year a certain number of candidates for admission to the service otherwise than by written competitive examination.
