(From Oar Own Correspondent.) MILSON, July 2. The July meeting of the Women’s Institute was held in the hall, there being a large attendance. -Mrs F. G. Murphy presided and extended a welcome to all members and visitors. Mrs Cotterill, president of the Moerewa (Bay of Islands) institute, was present and received a hearty welcome. Inward and outward correspondence was read and confirmed. Eight new members were elected—Mcsdainos Harris, Broadlcy, Wilton, Hopkins, Eaton, W. Britton, Turner, and O’Connor. An apology tor absence was received from -Mrs ltabone. ’ A vote of thanks was passed to Mcsdamcs White and Munro for their efforts and management of the institute stall at the recent Show. It was decided to support the Blind Institute by bolding a stall towards the cud of the year lo raise funds. The reports from the various circios showed them to be progressing very satisfactorily. Mrs McKenzie, convenor of the gardening circle, gave an interesting demonstration ou rose pruning. A competition is being held at the next meeting lor the best posy of any flowers, ills Arlidge, who was the'winner at the recent bridge afternoon. was presented with her prize. Mrs JJymock, delegate to the group meeting lie.f) recently, gave a report ou the proceedings. As next month will soo the fourth birthday ot the institute, it \us left in the hands of the committee to arrange a social afternoon for members and their friends. A competition was held for a marquetry stool, the winner proving to be Miss i. Terry. Several demonstrations by members of the arts and crafts circle wore arranged by Mrs llcnwick, convener of the circle, and proved to be very interesting. The de-

monstrators wore Mrs Brill (paper work), Mins Sohelin (black cat handkerchief hag), Mrs Childs (cushions), Mrs Stidolph (wood carving) and Muss Davidson (marquetry work). A competition created much amusement, the winner being Mrs Norris. Mrs Cotterill gave an interesting talk cn the activities of the Moerewa Institute. Jhe hostesses for the August meeting are Meselamos-" Hooker. Livingstone. McKenzie. Stringer, Weston-Smith, Thorburn, >' ooct, Coleman, Andrews, Ashworth, hield, and Miss Davidson. Afternoon tea was r?er\cd by the many willing hostesses. On Tuesday evening the C team /rom the Uokowhitu Table Tennis Club visited Milson for their competition match m the first round.
