DECREASE IN CALL LIABILITIES. STERLING EXCHANGE LOWER. WELLINGTON, July 3. The weekly statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, Juno 29, is as follows: LIABILITIES.
Proportion of reserve (No. 7 less No 5) to notes and other demand liabilities, 96.469 per cent., compared with 96.725 per cent, on June 22. Substantial changes arc shown in in this week's statement. .The note issue has further increased by £19,329 and now totals £10,040,705. Demand liabilities to the State at £8,839,631 show the large reduction of £944,002, doubtless due to overseas payments. The trading banks’ reserve' balances have been reduced bv £374,403 and now amount to £0,697,464. Other demand liabilities have increased by £57,269, the total of this item being £258,410. Other liabilities amount to £89,695, an increase of £469. On the assets side sterling exchange shows a reduction of £1,267,200. the total now being £22.122.319. Gold remains unchanged at £2,50L,733. Subsidiary coin amounts to £192,158, a decrease of £4160. Investments total £2,036,799, an increase of £22,710. Other assets show an increase of £7311, the total being £272,896. The statement balances at £27,425,906, a decrease on the week of £l,241.338.
