AIR DEVELOPMENT.
GREAT PROGRESS IN AMERICA. Last year proved to bo the most important year in the development of the aviation industry in the United States of America. Figures released by the Director of Air Commerce in the Department of Commerce, U.S.A., show that air transport companies in the United State,s and other routes in Canada and Latin America carried 800,000 passengers in 1935, an increase of 290,000 over the number carried in 1933—the busiest year recorded. The volume of air mail was approximately doubled. More than 16,000,000 miles were flown by air transport services. Aircraft manufacturers have also increased their production, 'particularly of commercial and other civil types of machines. Private flying, measured by the number of licenses issued, also increased. while the number of “student permits’ issued reached a total of 25,000.
