OLD BOYS’ FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL BALL. The annual ball of the Palmerston North Old Boys’ Football Club,, held in. the P.D.C.. cabaret, last night, proved a very jolly function. The first fifteens of the Te Ante College and Palmerston North Boys’ High School were the guests of the, evening, and there was also a record attendance of members and friends. The hours passed all too quickly, the function being termed a great success. The excellent manner in which the ball was conducted, and its perfect organisation, reflected credit on the club committee, who were responsible for the arrangements. Members of the committee were Messrs K. W. Eglinton (president), W. S. Fox, M. F. Henry, G. J. Kells. A. Cutler, G. Dawick and W. Simmonds. Messrs M. Heise and G. A. Robertson proved capable in the capacity of joint secretaries of the ball committee.
The hostesses were Mesdames H. Palmer, who wore black flat crepe, trimmed with gold lace and a block velvet evening coat; J. Murray, pink and floral crepe-de-chine, black coa.tee; and J. A. Colquhoun, silver grey taffeta with insets of silver lame, and white fur coat. Mrs K. W. Eglinton, wife of the president, was unable to attend owing to Mr Eglinton’s recent indisposition. Both forwarded apologies for absence.
The Te Aute boys provided a bright interlude by entertaining the gathering with Maori hakas. They were vociferously recalled, and at the conclusion of each haka were accorded applause. Modern dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by a professional orchestra.
