EXPRESS DELAYED.
OVER THREE HOFRS LATE. SLIPS ON MAIN TRUNK. Two small slips and one large one, which blocked the Main Trunk line north of Mangaweka this morning, were responsible for a delay of three and a half hours in the arrival of the southbound Limited express in Palmerston North. In conversation with a “Standard” reporter, a passenger stated that the train had been held at Taihape from 4 o’clock until after 7 o’clock. The weather there was wet and cold. It is believed that a series of heavy frosts followed by rain were responsible for the falls. On the arrival of the train in Palmerston North, three passengers were rushed to Milson aerodrome to connect with the southbound airliner, which had been held back until their arrival.
