RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, June 15. A large gathering of runners and supporters attended the annual interclub harrier rally in Dannevirke on Saturday. Runners were present from the Napier, Hastings, Dannevirke. Masterton, Kaitere (Masterton), Wanganui and Marton clubs. The race was over two laps of a 3-mile cross country course. The event was a teams’ race and resulted in the Wanganui team winning the shield. The teams’ results were:— Wanganui 31 points, Hastings 45, Kaitere (Masterton) 54. Marton 50. Napier 72, Masterton 81, Dannevirke S. The first four men home were G. Weller (Wanganui) 1, C. Tab hot (Masterton) 2, A. Lord (Napier) 3, F. Hill (Marton) 4. The first five Marton runners home were F. Hill 4th, W. Edge sth, G. Bromley 10th, Gorrie and Griffin, 3-ltli, equal. I'ho half-yearly installation ol officers ol the Loyal Marton Lodge, M. was held oil Friday. The District Grand Master, Bro. O. J. Rogers, and Deputy District Grand Master, Bro U. Wilson, were in attendance as was District 'Trustee, i.r-i I E. L. Miller, P.D.G.M.. and many other prominent members of the ' order. Eleven lodges of various town,-, j of New Zealand were represented. A resolution of sympathy with Bro. H. J. Byres and family in their bereavement was carried in silence. P.G. Bro. R. L. Gill was in charge of the installation ceremonies, assistance being given by Past Grands Sis. R. Fowler and A. Berntson. Bro. T. S. Tarry was installed into the office ol N. and was addressed on the duties ol this office by D.G.M. Bro. Rogers. Bro. C. S. Button was installed as V.G., and was addressed by D.D.G.M. Bro. Wilson. Sis. E. Hodgson was installed as E.S., and was addressed by P.G. Bro. W. Nye, secretary of Foxton Lodge. Bro. J. I. Clniko was installed bv P.G. Bro. Gill as I.P.N.G. Bro. H. W. Archibald was presented with a Past Grand’s regalia by Bro. H. J. Fowler, P.D.G.M., who referred to the excellent work of Bro. Archibald. Bro. J. L. Goile was installed as Warden, and Sis. H. R. Fowler as Guardian. At the conclusion of the ceremonies the District Grand Master addressed the gathering briefly on ritual matters, and congratulated the lodge on the live spirit displayed, and on its progress. Following the closing of the lodge the evening was given up to games and dancing. Slipper was provided by the ladies.
